Powerpack is the heart of an electric vehicle
The green transition is driving manufacturers of cars, machinery and other rolling stock towards zero-emission powertrain solutions. The development of electric powertrains has been rapid, and so far, the electric motor is the most common replacement for the internal combustion engine in machinery such as off-road vehicles, increasing the demand for various powerpack solutions.
The powerpack enables the storage and management of energy for electric vehicles. Professionally designed and tailored to the vehicle’s specific requirements, the powerpack can be easily integrated into an existing system, optimising energy use and improving the performance of the entire powertrain system. It is also reliable and safe to use.
Comatec’s customized design services for powerpacks
We offer our customers a powerpack solution design service that meets the requirements of the machine or other vehicle and can be easily integrated into the target system. The powerpack solution we design always includes the necessary control systems, battery cooling system and communication links.
The professional design of a powerpack solution starts with knowledge of battery technologies and charging systems, and the designer must also be able to manage heating and cooling. System integration skills also play a key role, as a successful outcome always requires the integration of the battery package into the customer’s overall system.
Our turnkey design service covers all phases of the work, from requirements specification, technical design and component selection to design implementation, programming, safety design and commissioning. You can outsource the entire project to our experts or supplement your in-house expertise by ordering the designing of the necessary elements – the package is always tailored on a case-by-case basis.
Simulation for competitive advantage
We use simulation to design powerpack solutions, which improves the quality of the design and speeds up the lead time from idea to finished application. Simulation allows the needs and performance of the electric powertrain to be modelled before the actual implementation. The choice of components can also be optimised through simulation.
The simulation draws on the long experience of the Group’s experts in the mechanical, electrical and automation design of mobile machinery. Our designers have a solid knowledge of the different operating environments and their associated system requirements. When dealing with machines, it is essential to know, for example, the working conditions such as weather conditions, the working time between charges and the different power output requirements. Components are always selected from a range of well-known component manufacturers to ensure availability and substitutability.
Easy transition to electric transmission
Electrically powered machinery and equipment is now part of almost every manufacturer’s product range, and new applications are being developed all the time. By getting powerpack design from us, the equipment manufacturer can easily integrate a powerpack into an existing product without in-depth knowledge of battery technology. A turnkey design solution frees up the manufacturer’s own resources for other areas of the project.
Our powerpack solutions have so far focused on work machines and other mobile equipment, but they can also be applied to other electric energy applications.
