Antti, Business Unit Manager, Tampere, Finland
Antti holds multiple qualifications. He studied machine automation in Finland and manufacturing technology in Ireland. Most recently, he completed a Master of Engineering degree at Tampere University of Applied Sciences, majoring in Technology Competence Management. For his thesis, Antti focused on project risk management in international plant engineering projects.
Antti has accumulated more than twenty years of experience in the engineering sector in Finland, Ireland and several other countries. His areas of expertise include power plant piping systems and related plant layout projects.
“I have worked on piping and layout projects of various sizes in a range of roles, from Lead Designer to Project Manager. I spent almost ten years in my previous position, but when I heard that Comatec was looking for someone with strong piping expertise and leadership experience to join its top-class team in Tampere, I felt it was time for a new challenge. The offer was simply too good to refuse.”
“In my current role at Comatec, I lead a project team of twenty people and ensure that projects are delivered to a high standard and on schedule. My work involves extensive planning, including larger project scopes, such as workload estimates and responsibility for budgets, quality, scheduling, staffing and cost efficiency. In addition to managing current assignments, I work closely with customers to identify and plan new projects. I also lead various internal initiatives, such as training programmes, and support the professional development of the co-workers in my department.”
According to Antti, the most rewarding aspect of his work is bringing projects to a successful conclusion and even exceeding customer expectations. Successful project delivery is achieved through high-quality planning, rapid responsiveness and extensive experience. At Comatec, more experienced designers mentor and guide their younger colleagues.
“It is rewarding to see designers develop through projects and become capable of managing increasingly larger and more demanding assignments independently, and over time, even leading their own project teams.”
The general economic situation has also brought challenges to Antti’s work, but a positive and productive atmosphere has been maintained thanks to the strong team spirit. Antti describes Comatec as a highly competent organisation where people are treated as people, not numbers.
“I always say that we deliver the world’s best projects with a relaxed, people-centred approach.”
What would you say to someone considering a career at Comatec?
“I would absolutely recommend it! You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of interesting assignments, and I do not believe you would regret applying to Comatec.”
