Four Decades of Finnish Engineering Expertise at Comatec Group

This year, the Finnish-owned Comatec Group celebrates its 40-year journey as an engineering expert, while maintaining a firm focus on the future.
The company’s story began in Tampere in 1986, when engineer Aulis Asikainen founded an engineering office built on strong technical expertise and a desire to solve even the most demanding industrial challenges. Over four decades, Comatec has grown into an internationally operating expert organisation. Today, Comatec Group employs some 550 specialists and operates in Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Poland and Romania. Growth has been achieved both organically and through acquisitions.
Over the decades, Comatec Group has developed systematically, expanding its service offering from mechanical, electrical and automation engineering to comprehensive expert and project management services. Today, we operate in several industrial and technological sectors, including the energy and mining industries, the process and marine industries, the design and development of mobile machinery, and solutions that promote the circular economy. The strongest growth areas include shipyard and marine equipment engineering, the mining industry, and the defence and dual‑use industries.
In addition to design services, we offer a wide range of expert services related to, for example, safety and compliance, technical communication, technical calculation and simulation, lifecycle support, environmental services and other services supporting the green transition.
Our operations are guided by deep technical expertise, up‑to‑date and practical thinking, and long customer relationships.
“Our customers know us for a service model that adapts to their needs. From a single point of contact, they can access support for individual design assignments, additional resourcing to complement their own organisation, and extensive turnkey project deliveries,” explains Chief Operating Officer Keijo Hämäläinen.
“A 40‑year history provides a strong foundation for the future. Technological transformation, digitalisation and sustainability requirements open new opportunities, and we continue working alongside our customers at the forefront of developing solutions that meet the needs of tomorrow,” says Comatec Group’s CEO Aulis Asikainen.
Konsernin omistavat Asikaisen ohella Jorma Nordfors ja Petri Leino, jotka ovat molemmat myös työskennelleet pitkään konsernin palveluksessa.
”Our professional competence is based on the skills of our experienced employees to develop themselves and their work. Professional skills, customer service, and reliability are the most important factors,” sums up Nordfors, who has made a long career at Comatec with rolling stock and track equipment.
“Forty years is a significant milestone. This is a moment to thank our magnificent customers, each of whom is a top expert in their field, as well as all Comatec employees, past and present, who have helped build this shared journey. Our focus remains firmly on the future toward new technologies, sustainable solutions, and the next success stories we create together with our customers and employees,” says Leino.
